Synopsis:
A group of enthusiastic Nepalese personnels have joined their hands to organize a Nepali cultural dance program in the womb of Europe's multi-cultural city - Amsterdam. The organization National Unity Nepal- Netherlands that organized a Cycle-rally in the same city a few weeks back are bringing together Nepali peacocks, I say, scattered around Europe (Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal etc.) and add a flavor to the city's richness. The world has known Nepal since centuries for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. Thousands of tourists from around the world always return admiringly taken back by the way a country has been decorated as such. Tourism has thus flourished as a pioneer culture and a way of life for some. A few months back I read a piece from Andrew Hyde, a blogger from New York, he has expressed how is negative ideas about Nepal changed as he explored the more of Nepal, towards the Himalayas, the trails, the treks !
Another Nepalese friend, Arpan Regmi living in Australia for few years now captured as much as he could when he visited this beautiful country after years and shared it with us. I feel such a pleasure to include his work here, thank you Arpan:
Going back to the Dance Competition Program, quote 'competition' adds another dimension to the event itself. 20 participants of various ages, coming from different parts of Europe, will perform in a wide range of Nepali Modern tunes and folklores. One after another, bringing better than the best, the stage shall roar with "paujus" and "mujras", shall wave with elegant hand-jestures and the snake-like hips. A qualified team of judges and jury practicing Nepali Classical dance in Netherlands, Germany, Belgium will decide the winner with some support from the audience themselves.
Among the important spectators will be the Honorary Ambassadors and Counselors of Nepal to Netherlands, Belgium, Germany.
The program has been approved and supported by the Euro-Nepal Artist, Nepal Tourism Board, Town Hall (Gemeentee) of Amsterdam, MONA- Belgium, Nepal Democratic Forum, Madan Dance School, Everest Restaurant-Amsterdam, Atma-Asia Travel, Pure Clothing-Amsterdam and other various Nepali organizations and officials at various positions in Europe.
"We are very pleased to have the support of everyone in organizing this event, we are looking forward to an eye-catching performance from all the participants", said Mr. Puspa Baruwal the chairman of the event. The President of the organization Mr. Fanindra Panta said,"We have been away from our country and struggling in a foreign land. While we continue building our lives, we hope this program will help to unite all the Nepali in Europe and reflect our identity to our new neighbours as well."
I am desperately looking forward to attending the event on coming Sunday, 8th May, 2011 at Overtoom, Amsterdam. The program starts at 12:00 Netherlands time. Don't miss it and join me if you are around:
