As we all know Japan has been hit by a massive 8.9 rector scaled Earthquake on this date. Media claims this is the biggest earthquake Japan ever saw and 7th biggest earthquake the world ever know about. (Learn more about World's biggest earthquakes from CNN ) No matter the scale of disaster, it comes with loss and we have to deal with it. While people are praying and helping in every way to help the victims in that area, Google has launched an app for finding missing persons.  A fire that started in one of the reactors at Onagawa Nuclear Plant was extinguished right away.

Within the time span of 6 hours, 32 lives have been confirmed lost. BBC report

The app site available in both Japanese and English ( http://japan.person-finder.appspot.com/?lang=en ) says it is currently tracking 3300 records. I hope this site will help families, friends and relatives around the globe to get some information about their loved ones.

Prayers !

Here is the Google's Person Finder for Japan Earthquake 2011:

How this works?

You click on the respective link that matches you (looking for or have information), then if the person is listed you get results OR you can ask for information (Creat a record)
I tried Raj, and it gave 14 results. Out of them, Mr. Rajan Bhandari from Pokhara, Nepal informed of his well being.

Thanks to google !
